What you can build

Individual and organization NPIs, additional practice locations and source certification records. NPI enumeration does not verify licensure or credentials. Addresses are self-reported; coordinates require explicit Census geocoding. CMS facility listings retain historical/termination status. Deactivated NPIs expose only identifier and deactivation date. Use this dataset as a sourced input to an application, analytical model or retrieval tool. Retain its native dimensions when joining it with your own records.

Coverage and interpretation

NPPES primary and additional practice addresses and three CMS Provider of Services collections retain their own identities and source dates. Records are not unique clinicians, and inclusion does not establish current licensure or operation. Additional NPPES locations require an active primary NPI. Source addresses have no verified coordinates; the location endpoint requests a Census street-range match for one selected record. HPSA intersections preserve designation scope and do not establish program eligibility.

The active release shown here is a catalog snapshot. Check the live catalog and response provenance for current readiness. The underlying public source and Geoamcan access terms are separate; consult the source’s licensing and attribution requirements.
